My career in the medical field began at the age of seventeen. I worked in an internal medicine geriatric office in multiple roles, including medical assisting, billing, and I headed a wellness workout center for seniors.
Several red flags tugged at my conscience, and made me question the traditional medical paradigm, both from what I saw while working, and in my own personal experience:
1. Drugs were prescribed or advised nearly 100% of the time.
2. The root cause of a problem was not investigated.
3. The patient was given very little time with the practitioner.
4. Emphasis was not placed on diet, in fact, it was rarely, if ever, discussed.
I began my own research into the causes of illness, and methods to enhance the innate abilities of the body, rather than harming them. Deciding against traditional medical school, I chose a career in acupuncture.
Over seventeen years later, I can say that I could not have found a better profession. When I go to "work" I get to help my patients overcome symptoms they have suffered with for years, and prevent new ones from occurring.
True medicine teaches, it doesn't prescribe,
not adding to what caused loss of health in the first place.
